BEIJING - Canadian Karen Cockburn has won her third career Olympic medal, claiming silver in women's trampoline.
Her score of 37.00 left her just back of gold medallist He Wenna of China at 37.80.
Ekaterina Khilko of Uzbekistan took the bronze at 36.90.
Cockburn, the 27-year-old from Toronto, won a silver medal in 2004 in Athens and a bronze four years earlier in Sydney where the sport made its Olympic debut.
Her medal in Beijing makes her the fourth Canadian in a non-team or non-relay event to win an Olympic medal in three straight Games.
The other Canadians who won medals at three straight games were Phil Edwards in track and field in 1928, 1932 and 1936 (three bronze); rower Leslie Thompson-Willie in 1992, 1996 and 2000 (gold, silver, bronze); and kayaker Caroline Brunet in 1996, 2000 and 2004 (two silver and a bronze).
Cockburn tore cartilage in her right knee Oct. 27 while preparing for the 2007 world championship in Quebec City and decided to have surgery, even though she feared then she wouldn't be ready to compete in Beijing.
She was, however, and won her last World Cup event prior to the Olympics.
Cockburn has said this will likely be her last Olympic Games because she's twice had surgery on her right knee.
She required complete reconstruction on it at age 15 following a mishap in training. She took a year off from the sport to rehabilitate and required a brace for competition for two years after that.
