ROME - Silvio Berlusconi's lawyers say accusations by a Milan court that he paid off witnesses to testify in his favour at a trial stemming from his notorious "bunga bunga" parties are "totally disconnected from reality and factual substantiation."
Attorneys Niccolo Ghedini and Piero Longo said there was "no connection whatsoever" between a January 2011 meeting they had with women who attended the parties and the 2,500 euro ($3,400) payments they began receiving a year later.
The women testified in the trial of three former Berlusconi associates accused of procuring women to prostitute themselves at the parties. The women denied the parties were raunchy. The judges accused them of giving false testimony.
