LOS ANGELES - The California Highway Patrol says the San Diego Freeway near Los Angeles has been reopened after a wildfire forced its closure for about several hours.

The fire in the Sepulveda Pass broke out close to the freeway and the city's Getty Center at about 1 a.m. Thursday and the freeway was shut down soon afterward.

Firefighters continue to battle the remains of the blaze, which consumed at least 60 hectare in an area about three kilometres from the Getty Center museum.

Authorities warned that the freeway could be closed again at any time if the fire flares up again.

The cause of the outbreak is not known.
