OTTAWA - Architect Raymond Moriyama, who designed the Canadian War Museum, is among nine winners of the Governor General's visual arts awards.

Artist John Greer, filmmaker Robert Morin and painter Gordon Smith have also been named as winners of the $25,000 prizes.

Glass sculptor Kevin Lockau will receive the Saidye Bronfman Award for excellence in the fine crafts.

Tony Urquhart and Kim Ondaatje share the outstanding contribution award for their work in establishing CARFAC, the national voice of Canada's professional visual artists.

Gov.-Gen. Michaelle Jean will present the awards at a formal ceremony Wednesday.
