VANCOUVER - A split in opinion by striking Vancouver workers could keep them all out on the picket line for weeks to come.

Voting began Monday on a mediator's report that contained recommendations hoped to end a strike nearing the three month mark.

Thousands of Vancouver residents have been without garbage pick-up and other city services since workers from three unions went on strike in July.

City spokesman Jerry Dobrovolny says city officials were disappointed by reports that two of the three locals are recommending their members vote against the proposed settlement.

Even if one of the three unions accepts the deal, their leadership says they won't cross the picket lines of the other two groups.

Dobrovolny says that's in part why the city won't speculate on when the strike could come to an end.
