Vancouver police say they did not have any prior knowledge of a mother who was gunned down in her SUV in the middle of the afternoon.
Thuy Yen "Jenny" Vu, 38, died Wednesday afternoon when her idling SUV was sprayed by gunfire.
Her three-year-old son was in the back seat of the vehicle when the attack occurred.
Police were called to the southeast Vancouver scene just after 3 p.m. When they arrived, Vu was already dead.
The child was not hurt and is now in government care.
It is believed that Vu was targeted, but police are still unclear of the motive behind the deadly attack.
No arrests have been made in the slaying.
Police are still gathering information about what happened.
