TORONTO - The union representing 21,000 film, television and radio workers across the country has put strike plans on hold while they return to the bargaining table.
Members of the Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists, or ACTRA, had threatened to walk off the job Jan. 1 if a labour deal was not reached.
But a spokeswoman for the union said Tuesday that representatives for ACTRA and the producer's organization will return to negotiations on Wednesday and Thursday.
The union's main sticking points are wage increases and the use of performances on the Internet.
Last month, the group voted 97.6 per cent in favour of a walkout if a deal couldn't be reached.
A strike would cover virtually all television and film work in Canada.
