INDIAN WELLS, Calif. -- Canada's Milos Raonic advanced to the fourth round of the BNP Paribas Open tennis tournament on Monday when opponent Bernard Tomic was forced to retire.

Raonic, seeded 12th, was leading 17th seed Tomic 6-2, 3-0 when the Australian dropped out with an injury.

Meanwhile, Westmount, Que., native Eugenie Bouchard had her run at Indian Wells come to an end when she fell in her third-round match to 12th-seeded Timea Bacsinszky of Switzerland.

Bacsinszky downed Bouchard 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 in a match that went nearly two and a half hours.

Raonic, from Thornhill, Ont., will face either Tomas Berdych or Borna Coric in the next round.
