TORONTO -- Milos Raonic of Thornhill, Ont., will lead Canada's team in next month's Davis Cup tennis tie against Japan.

Canada's top-ranked men's singles player will be joined by doubles veteran Daniel Nestor of Toronto, Vasek Pospisil of Vancouver and Frank Dancevic of Niagara Falls, Ont., for the World Group first-round tie, which will be held March 6-8 at the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre in Vancouver.

U.S. Open finalist Kei Nishikori will lead the Japanese team, which also includes Go Soeda, Tatsuma Ito and Yasutaka Uchiyama.

Raonic, who is ranked sixth in the world, is on an eight-match home winning streak in Davis Cup, including winning both of his singles matches in Canada's World Group playoff against Colombia last September.

Canada is the seeded team with a Davis Cup world ranking of No. 9 while Japan is ranked No. 12.

Vancouver's Filip Peliwo and Toronto's Adil Shamasdin will also travel with the Canadian team to Vancouver as extra players.

The winner of the tie will move on to the World Group quarter-finals and will also be assured to keep its spot in the World Group for the following year.

The loser will need to win a World Group playoff to keep its spot in the elite level for 2016.
