TORONTO - It's turning out to be a pretty good month for Rawi Hage.

Two weeks ago, the Montreal author learned he was a Scotiabank Giller Prize finalist for his novel `Cockroach.' Last week, the book was shortlisted for one of Quebec's premiere prizes.

Now, `Cockroach' is in the running for a Governor General's Literary Award.

Other fiction finalists announced this morning include Toronto writers Nino Ricci and David Adams Richards.

Rounding out the list is Fred Stenson of Cochrane, Alta., and Rivka Galchen, who lives in New York, but is originally from Toronto. Notables on the non-fiction list include Globe and Mail columnist Christie Blatchford, for her book on Afghanistan.

The winners will be announced Nov. 18 in Montreal.
