OTTAWA - Supporters of a Canadian man sentenced to die in Saudi Arabia rallied on Parliament Hill Sunday for Ottawa to push harder for clemency.
Several dozen protesters stood in sub-zero temperatures and urged the Conservative government to apply more pressure on Riyadh to spare Mohamed Kohail.
Kohail, 23, was convicted of murder after a man died from internal injuries following a schoolyard brawl over an alleged assault.
He is sentenced to die in a public beheading by sword.
Kohail's family says he did not receive a fair trial.
The Conservatives said earlier this month they would seek clemency for Kohail following a directive from Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
