LONDON - There are bound to be hurt feelings at an event as large and complex as the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton next month.

Everyone wants to play a role, and Peter Maxwell Davies, who plays a formal role as composer to Queen Elizabeth II, is no exception.

Davies had been expecting to compose music for the wedding, but his representatives told The Associated Press on Monday that he has not received the assignment.

The respected composer has told The Daily Telegraph that he does not plan to watch the April 29 wedding on television.

Spokesman Simon Wall says Davies plans to dedicate a composition to the royal couple at a later date.
