LONDON - British prosecutors say an airline worker in Britain plotted with U.S.-born extremist cleric Anwar al-Awlaki over plans to down a trans-Atlantic airliner.

Prosecutor Jonathan Laidlaw told a London court on Tuesday that 31-year-old Rajib Karim, originally from Bangladesh, worked for British Airways and supplied information to al-Awlaki.

The jury was told that Karim has already pleaded guilty to three terrorism offenses. He denies a series of other charges, including plotting to bomb an aircraft.

Laidlaw said Karim worked at a British Airways call center in Newcastle, northeastern England, and had access to a branch at London's Heathrow airport.

Prosecutors say he plotted with extremists in Yemen, including with al-Awlaki, over a planned terrorist attack.
