REGINA - Brad Wall is trying to paint himself as the defender of Saskatchewan in the waning days of the provincial election.

The Saskatchewan Party leader says his government promoted the province around the world and stood up for its interests at the national level.

Speaking in Regina, Wall boasted about his opposition to a potash takeover, his push against a national carbon tax and his support for pipelines.

He made his comments at a food plant that buys lentils, peas, beans and chickpeas for processing and sells its products around the world.

The premier also said Ottawa is listening to Saskatchewan's concerns, despite Prime Minister Justin Trudeau not having been to the province since taking office last fall.

Wall gave as an example Ottawa slowing down the process to bring in Syrian refugees after Saskatchewan voiced concerns that it was being rushed.
