WASHINGTON - The technology chief of Jeb Bush's presidential campaign-in-waiting has resigned, a day after apologizing for making insensitive remarks on Twitter.

Ethan Czahor was hired in January as chief technology officer of the former Florida Republican governor's Right to Rise political action committee.

Bush is the son and brother of former presidents. He has taken key steps to pave the way for a 2016 White House bid but has not yet announced he will run.

Before Czahor was hired, he had posted messages on his personal Twitter account that referred to women as "sluts" and made remarks about gay men.

He resigned after racially insensitive comments were found on a website attributed to Czahor.

Bush spokeswoman Kristy Campbell says it was "appropriate for him to step aside."
