As we enter the holiday season the weekly Nanos tracking on the state of federal politics remains relatively stable.

The Liberals scored 57 points out of 100 on the Nanos Party Power Index followed by the Conservatives at 53 points, the NDP at 49 points, the Green Party at 31 points and the BQ at 26 points (QC only). (See chart below)

The Nanos Party Power Index methodology is comprised of a basket of political goods that includes ballot preferences, accessible voters, preferred PM views and evaluations of the leaders. It is modeled similar to a standard confidence index.

When asked about whether they would consider or not consider voting for each of the federal parties in a set of independent questions, the Liberals continued to enjoy the highest proportion of accessible voters in the electorate. Fifty three per cent of Canadians would consider voting Liberal, while 45 per cent would consider voting for the NDP, 42 per cent would consider voting Conservative and 26 per cent would consider voting for the Green Party.

On the preferred Prime Minister front, Harper was at 33 percentage points, followed by Trudeau at 31 per cent, Mulcair at 18 per cent, May at 4 per cent and 12 per cent of Canadians were unsure.
