OTTAWA -- Montreal-area MP Nicola Di Iorio says he is again mulling his political future.

On Thursday, Liberal whip Mark Holland announced that Di Iorio had contacted the party to confirm his political departure.

Di Iorio, who was first elected to the Commons in 2015 to represent the Montreal riding of Saint-Leonard-Saint-Michel, said last April he was leaving politics for family reasons.

But in a message on his Facebook page this week, the MP says he is giving himself another month to reflect on his future as well as to consult his loved ones and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

That message came after he told Le Progres de Saint-Leonard, a weekly newspaper in his neighbourhood, he would stay on until the end of his mandate in 2019.

Di Iorio has not been seen on Parliament Hill since the House resumed sitting Sept. 17.
