Defence Minister Peter MacKay has announced infrastructure improvements for the country's military recruit and training centre outside of Barrie, Ont.
Canadian Forces Base Borden will get a series of new buildings, including housing and a new military police training academy.
MacKay says construction work will benefit the local economy as the country continues towards economic recovery.
When combined with previously announced construction work, the federal government is now committed to investing $210 million in the nearly 100-year-old camp that is credited with being the birthplace of the Canadian air force.
Canadian pilots first began training there during the First World War.
