SEOUL, South Korea - South Korea says North Korean authorities have seized a South Korean fishing boat in waters off the divided peninsula's eastern coast.

South Korea's coast guard says the fishermen were questioned Sunday for an alleged violation of the North's exclusive economic zone. The fishing boat was then taken towards a North Korean port.

The coast guard said it was not clear where exactly the fishing boat was operating when it was seized.

The announcement came amid tension with North Korea over the March sinking of a South Korean warship blamed on North Korea. Pyongyang has denied involvement in the sinking.
