RENOUS, N.B. - Sixty-two prisoners at the maximum security Atlantic Institution in Renous, N.B., are under lockdown after a riot.

Corrections officials say the inmates refused to return to their cells Thursday night, damaging several light fixtures, windows and other material on the ranges.

A few fires were also lit but were quickly extinguished by institution staff.

There were no injuries and prisoners returned voluntarily to their cells shortly after the warden read the Riot Act.

The Atlantic Institution houses 222 inmates.
