HALIFAX - The Nova Scotia government says close to 20 per cent of the province's electricity will come from renewable sources by 2013.
Energy Minister Bill Dooks announced the mandatory targets today for power to be generated from sources including wind, tidal, biomass, solar and hydro.
Dooks says that six years from now, roughly 400 megawatts a day will come from clean, sustainable energy sources.
He says that's enough energy to meet the needs of more than 100,000 households.
Dooks says the province's mandatory new targets are among the most aggressive in Canada.
