OTTAWA - The fate of convicted terrorist Momin Khawaja is now in the hands of a judge.

Sentencing arguments wrapped up today in the case of the Ottawa man found guilty of several offences last year. He is to be sentenced March 12 by Justice Douglas Rutherford of the Ontario Superior Court.

Khawaja, 29, was convicted of five charges of financing and facilitating terrorism for assisting a group of British extremists and undergoing training at a remote camp in Pakistan.

He was also convicted of two offences related to building a remote-control device to set off explosions.

However, the Crown failed to prove Khawaja knew the trigger would apparently be used to set off fertilizer bombs in London.
