JOHANNESBURG, South Africa - Zimbabwe's opposition presidential candidate says talk of a unity government with President Robert Mugabe's party is premature.
Morgan Tsvangirai, speaking to reporters in the Zimbabwean capital, says that right now he is focusing on the presidential run-off vote, which is less than three weeks away.
Earlier Tuesday, a former member of Mugabe's party said preliminary talks on sharing power are under way.
The idea of a coalition government has been raised previously.
But the sticking point has long appeared to be insistence by the governing ZANU-PF party that Mugabe remain president in any unity government.
Tsvangirai has repeatedly offered to bring moderate members of Mugabe's party into his administration, but not Mugabe.
