GANDER, N.L. - A 63-year-old American man is in custody after a commercial jet was forced to divert to central Newfoundland because of an unruly passenger.
RCMP say they were called to the airport in Gander earlier today by staff who told them an American Airlines flight was coming in.
Police were told that one passenger was restrained and that alcohol, abusive language and violence were involved in the incident.
The flight was en route from Chicago to London at the time.
A man from Kentucky was arrested and charged with mischief over $5000 and causing a disturbance.
