About 2,500 residents in the Lower Mainland and parts of the interior are still without power Tuesday as a result of the wind storm that ripped through Southwestern B.C. last night.

A double-paned window from the Terasen Gas building fell onto the 1100 block of West Georgia street at approximately 5:00 a.m. as a result of the 80-kilometer winds.

B.C. Hydro spokesperson Gillian Robinson told bc.ctv.ca that restoration of services was relatively efficient after such a strong wind storm, considering there were upwards of 200,000 people without power last night.

West Georgia street was reopened after being closed to traffic for nearly twelve hours, but Park Drive in Stanley Park will remain closed until later in the day as a result of fallen trees.

Construction materials and debris from the Living Shangri-La construction site, which borders Alberni and West Georgia Streets, were also blown into the street, police told CTV British Columbia.

The building will be Vancouver's tallest structure upon completion.

"We've had a number of pieces of debris coming off from the buildings under construction in particular the Shangri-La building that's under construction here," Const. Howard Chow told CTV British Columbia on Monday night.

"There's been a sheet of plywood that's fallen down from way up high and fallen down on one of the cars. There's also been another sheet of plywood from a separate building that landed on a vehicle that was occupied."

No injuries were reported.
