MONTREAL - Supporters of a Canadian man facing public beheading by sword in Saudi Arabia are taking their calls for clemency to Parliament Hill.

A few hundred people are expected to gather in Ottawa this Sunday to call on the federal government to continue to pressure the Saudi government to stop the execution of 23-year-old Mohamed Kohail.

The Canadian government said earlier in the month it will seek clemency for Kohail.

But event organizer Pamela Eid says family and supporters haven't heard anything since and that time is running short.

Kohail was convicted of murder after a man died from internal injuries following a schoolyard brawl over an alleged insult.

His lawyers are expected to file an appeal in Saudi court later this week.
