CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - A cluster of Air Force research satellites rocketed into space Thursday night.

The Atlas 5 rocket was carrying two satellites that are part of the Orbital Express Experiment. Part of the mission was designed to have one satellite transport fuel and replace instruments on the other satellite.

Four additional satellites will measure chemical makeup in the atmosphere and the signal turbulence of satellites. They also will allow satellites to inspect themselves.

There were delays due to radio frequency interference and a problem with a liquid oxygen vent valve. The rockets were launched from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.
