From the sun-drenched climes of Santa Monica to the wealthy aristocracy of New York City's Upper East Side, CTV's fall lineup has something for everyone.
New additions to the prime time roster include "Grey's Anatomy" spin-off "Private Practice," "Dirty Sexy Money," "Gossip Girl," "Pushing Daisies," "Moonlight," "Big Shots" and "Big Bang Theory."
The exciting lineup was unveiled to a buzzing room of journalists, celebrities and advertising executives this afternoon in downtown Toronto's Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts.
"Practice" star Kate Walsh, along with screen legend Donald Sutherland, the Canadian star of "Dirty Sexy Money," were both in the house Monday afternoon for the big unveiling.
"Private Practice" follows Dr. Addison Sheppard (Kate Walsh) as she leaves Seattle for the warm embrace of Santa Monica. Viewers got a first taste of the spin-off last season in a special two-hour episode of "Grey's Anatomy" called "The Other Side of This Life." The new series boasts an all-star cast, which includes Tim Daly ("Wings"), Amy Brenneman ("Judging Amy"), and Taye Diggs ("Day Break") to name a few.
Sutherland and Jill Clayburgh top line "Dirty Sexy Money," a sophisticated satire that chronicles the lives of parents and siblings of a wealthy New York City family, the Darlings. While it's just the tip of the iceberg, the battle over power and privilege gets heated as they combat unsavory freeloaders, illegal immigrants and transvestite hookers, to name a few. Peter Krause plays the lawyer charged with the tall order of keeping this Kennedy-like family out of jail and the newspapers.
Josh Schwartz, the creator of breakout hit "The O.C.," returns with "Gossip Girl," a new teen drama, also set in New York City's Upper East Side. Based upon the best-selling novel series by Cecily von Ziegesar, the show centers on elite teen socialites as they deal with life in the Big Apple. Narrating the events is secretive blogger "Gossip Girl" (Kristen Bell), who runs a salacious, must-read website brimming with gossip about the lives of the exclusive circle of friends.
A humble pie maker who has the power to push the boundaries of life and death is at the heart of "Pushing Daisies." This fairytale-like series from director Barry Sonnenfeld ("Men in Black," "The Addams Family") and writer-producer Bryan Fuller ("Heroes," "Dead Like Me") promises to take primetime television to a new level of magic and whimsy.
"Moonlight" drives a stake through the heart of your typical private-eye series. Mick St. John (Alex O'Loughlin), bitten by his vampire bride 60 years ago, sinks his teeth into mysterious crimes while battling undead adversaries and falling in love.
The world of two loveable nerds is spun on its head when a knockout blonde moves in next door, in the "Big Bang Theory." Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Sheldon (Jim Parsons) have obviously never met anyone like Penny (Kaley Cuoco) before.
"Big Shots" blurs the line between the boardroom and the bedroom. Dissecting the lives of four dysfunctional CEOs, who'll do just about anything to stay on top, this cutting drama stars Michael Vartan, Dylan McDermott, Joshua Malina and Christophe Titus, who play the almost corporate casualty, a cosmetics CEO, a pharma company bigwig and a wet-behind-the-ears Harvard biz school grad, respectively.
