KANDAHAR, Afghanistan - An Afghan official says a roadside bomb has killed 11 members of one family in southern Afghanistan.

Helmand provincial government spokesman Daoud Ahmadi says the family was piled onto a tractor with a truck-bed hitched on back when the vehicle struck a bomb Sunday afternoon.

The family was travelling on a main road commonly used by international and Afghan forces. All aboard died, including two women and two children.

Ahmadi says the accident occurred in Helmand province's Now Zad district, significantly north of the area where international and Afghan forces have launched a massive military push against the Taliban.
