OTTAWA -- It's the final day of the federal election campaign and the major party leaders are hitting the major battlegrounds.
Justin Trudeau starts his day with rallies in Calgary and Edmonton, both Conservative strongholds where the Liberals are hoping to snatch some urban Alberta seats away from the Tories.
He ends the day with a pair of rallies in the Vancouver-area. The Liberals lagged in the polls in B.C. at the start of the campaign, but more recent surveys suggest they've been gaining ground in some lower mainland ridings.
Stephen Harper begins his Sunday on the stump in Newmarket, Ont., -- part of the so called 905 belt around Toronto that was so crucial to the Conservative leader's victory in the 2011 election. Harper was in suburban Toronto on Saturday night for a rally organized by the city's controversial former mayor, Rob Ford and his brother Doug.
He'll attend a photo-op in Mississauga, just west of Toronto, later this morning before flying to Regina for a campaign event early this afternoon, and then on to B.C. for an early evening event in Abbotsford.
After campaigning in B.C. on Saturday, Tom Mulcair has events in Toronto today where the New Democrats are seen in a dogfight with the Liberals in some inner-city ridings. The NDP leader heads to Montreal this evening for his final rally of the long campaign.
Green party Leader Elizabeth May will campaign today in the Victoria area, while Bloc Quebecois Leader Gilles Duceppe closes out his campaign with events in Trois-Rivieres, Sherbrooke, Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu and Montreal.
