OTTAWA -- It's Friday, so the temperature during question period in the House of Commons will likely be lowered with the major players out of the chamber.
Still, expect the opposition parties to continue trying to gain mileage from the Senate expense scandal with questions to deputy ministers and whomever else is charged with providing answers.
Senate Speaker Noel Kinsella will meet with Frank Horch, who hails from Hamburg, Germany, where he serves as the city's minister for economy, transport and innovation.
The Public Service Alliance of Canada will hold a news conference taking issue with the Conservative government's new budget bill, which the union says will take away the democratic rights of federal civil servants.
And the Supreme Court of Canada will rule in the case of an Alberta man, Michael Cairney, who was acquitted of second-degree murder -- but convicted of manslaughter -- for shooting and killing a longtime friend. A court of appeal had earlier ordered a new trial.
The high court will also decide the case of Bill Pappas, who was convicted in 2006 of killing Calgary cyclist Brian Kullman.
