NEW WESTMINSTER, B.C. - The judge in Robert Pickton's murder trial says the jury will return to court Sept. 4 while the Crown and defence conduct further legal arguments.
The jurors returned to court Monday, expecting to hear Pickton's defence lawyers begin laying out their case, but Justice James Williams told them lawyers for both sides need more time to complete arguments.
Later, he advised that the jury would not return until the day after Labour Day.
The trial has been delayed off and on for more than a month after a two-week holiday break and legal arguments.
The jury began a two-week vacation July 23 and returned Aug. 7.
The Crown closed its case but more legal arguments ensued.
Pickton is facing trial for murdering six women from Vancouver's Downtown Eastside.
He also faces a second trial on 20 counts of first-degree murder.
