PARK CITY, Utah - A black comedy that uses a pair of well-meaning hillbillies to send up the horror genre has nabbed a distribution deal at the Sundance Film Festival.

Maple Pictures says it has picked up the U.K./Canada co-venture "Tucker & Dale vs. Evil" for distribution in Canada.

They say the film has been earning strong buzz at the indie showcase, taking place in Park City, Utah, until Sunday.

Written and directed by L.A. filmmaker Eli Craig, "Tucker & Dale vs. Evil" is the story of two hillbillies who are mistaken for serial killers by a group of college kids.

The film was shot near Calgary last summer and stars Alan Tudyk ("Dodgeball," "Serenity"), Tyler Labine ("Zack and Miri Make a Porno) and Katrina Bowden (TV's "30 Rock").

Other Canadian films at the festival include the Sarah Polley-led horror offering "Splice," the French-language revenge tale "7 Days" and the Newfoundland-set, coming-of-age story "Grown-Up Movie Star."
