Just one day after the killing of gang leader Jonathan Bacon in Kelowna, B.C., a late night shooting outside a Surrey nightclub on Monday appears to be another targeted attack, police said.
No one was killed in the attack that occurred just before 11 p.m., police said. But the driver of an SUV, a 32-year-old man, suffered a minor injury when a man ran up to the vehicle and fired six to eight shots inside.
RCMP in Surrey said that the victim appears to have gang connections.
Three other men, including the victim's 28-year-old brother, arrived on the scene after the shooting.
The suspect fled on foot and no arrests have been made.
Investigators said it's too early to know if this shooting is linked to the slaying of Bacon, the Red Scorpions gang leader, on Sunday.
CTV British Columbia's Lisa Rossington reported on Tuesday that police are expecting retaliation for Bacon's death.
Kash Heed, a former Vancouver police chief, told Â鶹´«Ã½ Channel that he is sure there will be more violence.
"You don't kill one of the Bacons, injure a full patch Hells Angel and injure severely the niece of the president of a Hells Angel chapter and not expect retaliation," he said.
"Certainly people in B.C. need to be aware of what is taking place on the streets."
At least four others were injured, including two gang members, in the brazen daylight shooting in Kelowna that killed Bacon. Witnesses reported seeing masked gunmen fire automatic weapons at an SUV Bacon was riding in before fleeing the scene.
