TORONTO -- Natalie Portman will take to the stage to discuss her varied film career at a charity event for the Toronto International Film Festival.

The first annual TIFF Soiree will feature an on-stage conversation, cocktail party and musical performances.

Organizers say funds raised by the event will support programming, exhibitions, workshops and educational initiatives for youth and aspiring filmmakers.

The event takes place at TIFF Bell Lightbox on Sept. 9, with tickets ranging from $300 to $650.

Portman's lengthy film credits include "Beautiful Girls," "Garden State," "V for Vendetta" and "Black Swan." She wrote, directed, produced and starred in the upcoming "Tale of Love and Darkness."

The 40th Toronto International Film Festival runs Sept. 10 to 20.
