Justin Bieber was just a kid when Eminem put out his first album. Today, he's still just a kid, but they're on equal footing at Sunday night's American Music Awards in Los Angeles as both vie for the title of entertainer of the year.

The 16-year-old heartthrob and the bestselling rapper also face some other competition for the trophy: Newlywed Katy Perry, dance queen Lady Gaga and Ke$ha are also up for the top award.

Eminem is vying for a total of five American Music Awards, along with country trio Lady Antebellum. Both acts had two of the year's top hits -- Eminem with "Love The Way You Lie," featuring Rihanna, and Lady Antebellum, with "Need You Now."
