EDMONTON - Students and staff at a Catholic junior high school in Edmonton are creating a heartfelt tribute to a Canadian soldier who was killed in Afghanistan last week.

Sgt. George Miok, who was 28, was among four soldiers and one journalist killed when their vehicle was struck by a roadside bomb in Kandahar city on Wednesday.

The reservist taught at St. Cecilia Junior High School before embarking on a mission to Afghanistan in the fall.

Thirteen-year-old Marie Bolianatz has put up a letter she wrote to Miok that says that he was a "superhero" who always made the students laugh and smile.

Science teacher Ross Caria says Miok took the love of order he learned in the military to the classroom and even applied it when it was his turn to clean up the staff room.

He says Miok would have chairs aligned precisely in a row and the room would be cleaned until it was pristine.
