David Arquette partied so hard before entering rehab he busted his nose when trying to breakdance.
The 'Scream 4' actor -- who has attracted attention with his wild behaviour since separating from 45-year-old wife Courteney Cox Arquette -- realized his partying had gotten out of control after he tried to do "the worm" dance move and fell on his face at Trousdale nightclub in Los Angeles after Christmas.
A source explained David - who is currently receiving treatment at the Betty Ford Clinic - "has not handled the split well."
The insider added to the New York Post newspaper: "He's been drinking heavily and just went wild. At Trousdale, he got wasted and tried to do the worm, but ended falling on his face and smashing up his nose.
"There was blood everywhere. And he's been spending a lot of money at strip clubs. He ended up a total mess."
David, 39, then showed up in Miami a few days later where he refused to take off a mask he was wearing to hide his swollen and bruised face.
It has been reported the actor was joined at a New Year's Eve party by a sober coach because he had already checked in to rehab but club patrons at Liv spotted him earlier and claimed he appeared "wobbly and incoherent" while partying with a group of dwarves.
One reveller at another bash questioned the star on his bruised nose, and was told by David he had "fallen down".
The partygoer said: "He told me he'd fallen down and broken his nose."
