Dramatic video captured in Alberta shows a red sky hanging over the area of Waterton, where wildfires have devastated the nearby national park.
The darkened sky on Monday was caused by the Kenow fire, which has burned more than 110 square kilometres of Alberta’s Waterton Lakes National Park .
Several videos captured Monday and Tuesday show dark clouds of smoke billowing across the landscape, as distant fires add a red tinge to the sky.
A number of communities are under evacuation orders ahead of the fire, which has destroyed the park’s visitors’ centre and other buildings in the area.
One Facebook user shared video of her escape from the fire on Tuesday.
Other shared images of smoky skies and powerful flames emanating from the blaze.
