MONTREAL -- A Montreal publisher has printed the writings of the jailed Saudi blogger Raif Badawi in a new book.

The French-language book "1,000 Lashes" was unveiled today in Montreal with Ensaf Haidar, Badawi's wife, in attendance.

The 62-page book is a collection of 14 blog posts Badawi wrote between 2010 and 2012 that got him imprisoned for ten years in Saudi Arabia for criticizing clerics.

This month marks the third anniversary of Badawi's imprisonment.

Badawi is not a Canadian citizen, although his wife and children fled Saudi Arabia in 2012 and settled in Sherbrooke, Que., in 2013.

His detention and sentence have stirred up worldwide condemnation.
