Canadian knitwear designer Line saw its website crash and one of its pieces sell out in a matter of hours after newly engaged Meghan Markle wore the brand鈥檚 ivory belted 鈥淢ara鈥� coat during her debut appearance as Prince Harry鈥檚 fiancée.
Now aptly named the 鈥淢eghan,鈥� the 鈥渨inter white鈥� coat is currently on back-order according to , but the same coat is still available for $799 in a and in . Not long after fashion experts pinned Line as the brand of Markle鈥檚 coat, the knitwear company鈥檚 website briefly crashed on Monday morning, citing a 鈥渉eavy load.鈥�
In addition to the elegant wrap coat, Markle also wore nude crisscross-strapped pumps from , and opal earrings from while posing for photos with Prince Harry at Kensington Palace on Monday.
Canadian fashion expert Jeanne Beker called Markle鈥檚 choice of designers "a very proud moment for Canadian fashion.鈥�
鈥淓ven though she鈥檚 not a bona fide Canadian, I mean she鈥檚 just been living in Toronto . . . she really has paid our fashion industry the utmost respect by wearing this gorgeous white Line coat,鈥� Beker told 麻豆传媒 Channel in a video call on Monday.
Beker added that Markle鈥檚 choice of an ivory-coloured coat was fitting when considering the brief controversy surrounding her status as a divorcee.
鈥淚 thought it was quite wonderful of her to be wearing this white coat because it鈥檚 so pure and angelic and obviously a harbinger of things to come when she walks down the aisle next spring,鈥� Beker said.
鈥淭his white coat really spoke of a kind of renewal and she is just as pure and beautiful and true as they come.鈥�
Royals reporter Patricia Treble told CTVNews.ca in an email that Markle is a frequent buyer of Line items, 鈥渆specially her coats.鈥�
Treble also confirmed that the emerald green dress worn by Markle is from , 鈥渢hough the exact style hasn鈥檛 been pinned down.鈥�
Royal commentator Richard Berthelsen told CTVNews.ca that Markle鈥檚 earrings are from Canadian jeweller Birks.

鈥淪he doesn't wear a lot of jewelry so that was a bit of a surprise,鈥� Treble told CTVNews.ca. 鈥淥n the other hand, she has bought a lot of Canadian brands in recent years."
