Canadian knitwear designer Line saw its website crash and one of its pieces sell out in a matter of hours after newly engaged Meghan Markle wore the brand’s ivory belted “Mara” coat during her debut appearance as Prince Harry’s fiancée.

Now aptly named the “Meghan,” the “winter white” coat is currently on back-order according to , but the same coat is still available for $799 in a and in . Not long after fashion experts pinned Line as the brand of Markle’s coat, the knitwear company’s website briefly crashed on Monday morning, citing a “heavy load.” 

In addition to the elegant wrap coat, Markle also wore nude crisscross-strapped pumps from , and opal earrings from  while posing for photos with Prince Harry at Kensington Palace on Monday.

Canadian fashion expert Jeanne Beker called Markle’s choice of designers "a very proud moment for Canadian fashion.”

“Even though she’s not a bona fide Canadian, I mean she’s just been living in Toronto . . . she really has paid our fashion industry the utmost respect by wearing this gorgeous white Line coat,” Beker told 鶹ý Channel in a video call on Monday.

Beker added that Markle’s choice of an ivory-coloured coat was fitting when considering the brief controversy surrounding her status as a divorcee. 

“I thought it was quite wonderful of her to be wearing this white coat because it’s so pure and angelic and obviously a harbinger of things to come when she walks down the aisle next spring,” Beker said. 

“This white coat really spoke of a kind of renewal and she is just as pure and beautiful and true as they come.”

Royals reporter Patricia Treble told CTVNews.ca in an email that Markle is a frequent buyer of Line items, “especially her coats.”

Treble also confirmed that the emerald green dress worn by Markle is from , “though the exact style hasn’t been pinned down.” 

Royal commentator Richard Berthelsen told CTVNews.ca that Markle’s earrings are from Canadian jeweller Birks.

The company that Markle was wearing its yellow gold and opal earrings on Monday.

“She doesn't wear a lot of jewelry so that was a bit of a surprise,” Treble told CTVNews.ca. “On the other hand, she has bought a lot of Canadian brands in recent years."

Markle wore an engagement ring designed by Prince Harry and embellished with two diamonds that once belonged to Diana, Princess of Wales, the prince said in the couple’s debut interview since the engagement.

The diamond in the middle is from Botswana, where the couple spent time together over the past year and a half.

Markle has been frequently spotted wearing Canadian fashion brands in the past, including a floral maxi-dress by Canadian-Turkish designer . 

In September, wearing a from Vancouver-based fashion retailer . The romantic wrap dress sold out soon after. 

Markle paired the dress with a matching maroon leather jacket by Montreal's . 

In 2015, the “Suits” actress became a brand ambassador for Canadian retailer , curating her own "capsule collection" and participating in modelling campaigns for the brand.
