A Calgary woman who accidentally left a $525 tip at a trendy downtown bakery over the weekend has been refunded her money.

Pat Benedict purchased nearly $50 worth of bread, buns and other baked goodies at the Sidewalk Citizen Bakery on Saturday morning. Using her debit card, she accidently left a tip of more than 1,000 per cent.

The workers at the store didn't notice how much Benedict had left behind in gratuities until the end of the day when they were cashing out.

The bakery's owner, Aviv Fried, said he thought the generous tip was likely left by mistake and tried reaching out.

Fried didn't have the customer's phone number or know her name at the time. He posted a message to his Twitter account Monday in hopes of finding the customer.

In an update Tuesday, Fried said customer's bank was going to contact the "big tipper" to reimburse the $525.

Benedict later got a call from her bank and returned to the bakery Tuesday afternoon to collect her money.

"They said, 'Do you know you left about a $525 tip?'" she said. "I said, 'No, I didn’t know I did that.'"
