NEW WESTMINSTER, B.C. - The judge in Robert Pickton's murder trial welcomed the jury back today, only to have to dismiss them again.

Jurors were expecting to hear Pickton's defence lawyers begin laying out their case today, but Justice James Williams told them lawyers for both sides need another day to complete arguments.

"I'm in the incredibly unenvious position of advising you that there will be a delay,'' Williams told the jury.

The trial has been delayed off and on for over a month after a two-week holiday break and legal arguments.

"I'm so sorry. These things happen, it's no one's fault,'' Williams said. "Go enjoy your day.''

Pickton is facing trial for murdering six women from Vancouver's Downtown Eastside.

He also faces a second trial on 20 counts of first-degree murder.
