VICTORIA - Paul Pritchard says his life has changed after witnessing and filming the death of a man following a police Taser incident at the Vancouver airport.

Pritchard, 25, told The Canadian Press in an interview he's considering a career in journalism after spending the last two years travelling and teaching English in China.

Until now, Pritchard said he's been content to travel, but it's now time to make long-term plans.

"I was travelling around the world,'' he said. "I had a couple years left in me. My plans, I was moving to India after China. I was going to South America after that.''

Pritchard was scheduled to appear on a U.S. national television network program and travelled to New York as a guest of CBS on Thursday, but his segment wasn't aired Friday.

"I woke up this morning and did a couple of phone interviews and all of a sudden I'm flying to New York,'' he said Thursday.

Pritchard's video of the Oct. 14 death of Robert Dziekanski after the Polish man was zapped by an RCMP Taser is receiving worldwide attention.

Pritchard said he believes his video recording will contribute to changes in police tactics in Canada when it comes to use of force.

"Something good is going to come out of it,'' he said.
