A Toronto mansion once owned by Prince is listed for sale at nearly $13 million, a luxurious abode offering its future owner a chance to “party like it’s 1999.â€
The home, located in the prestigious Bridle Path neighbourhood, offers 14,280 square feet of living space on a gated two-acre lot.
At an asking price of just under $12.8 million, it features floor-to-ceiling windows, a swimming pool, and a heated cabana with its own kitchen, according to the listing.
The residence also boasts six bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, a fully equipped gym and marble floors.
But realtor Victor Brewda of Forest Hill Real Estate Brokerage Inc., said the highlight of the property is the natural features surrounding the home.
“It just has such natural beauty to it,†he said, adding that the secluded yard features several centuries-old trees.
Prince died unexpectedly on Thursday at his Paisley Park estate in Minnesota. He was 57.
Authorities say the cause of his death may not be released for months or even weeks.
The musician purchased the home when married Toronto native Manuela Testolini in 2001. He lived there for about five years before the couple divorced in 2006.
Brewda said the house has been renovated since then, but several traces of the pop star’s presence remain, including a room where Prince did much of his writing while in Toronto.
Prince reportedly worked on his 2004 album, Musicology, in the city.
Other custom features include a hair salon, tennis and basketball facilities as well as the iconic “Love Symbol†album logo -- which Prince later changed his name to -- built into the dining room doors.
Brewda said the fact that Prince lived there adds “sentimental value†to the home, but that the property is priced according to the value of similar listings in the area.
“It’s kind of a bonus, but it’s not really any reflection of what the asking price is,†he said. “The value is in the land and the area.â€
The property was originally owned by a wealthy Canadian businessman before Prince bought it, Brewda said.
The home has been for sale since late 2015. Earlier this year, it was taken off MLS and is now only available to select buyers upon approval of the brokerage.
