CERNOBBIO, Italy - Business leaders are voicing concern over the ability of Premier Silvio Berlusconi's squabbling coalition to quickly adopt severe austerity measures needed to counter the country's financial crisis.

Alessandro Profumo, the former chief executive of UniCredit bank, is the latest influential business figure who questions if the current government is capable of ensuring Italy's economy doesn't sink like Greece's.

Profumo says he would even be willing to lead an interim government if asked.

In an interview at the Cernobbio economic forum published in Sunday's Corriere della Sera, Profumo contends no political government could make the severe cuts needed if it was worried about winning elections.
