SEOUL, South Korea -

An official says the two Koreas have agreed to meet in Beijing on Wednesday to discuss a possible resumption of international talks on North Korea's nuclear disarmament.

North Korea abruptly walked out of the six-nation nuclear talks in April 2009 and prospects for their resumption diminished after two deadly incidents blamed on the North last year.

In July, the chief nuclear envoys of the rival Koreas met in Indonesia and agreed to work on restarting the talks.

A South Korean Foreign Ministry official said Sunday the two envoys will meet again this week to try to foster an environment for the negotiations to resume.

He spoke on condition of anonymity, citing department policy.
