OTTAWA - A federal judge is easing some of the strict conditions imposed on alleged terrorist Adil Charkaoui.
Federal Court Justice Daniele Tremblay-Lamer says some of the restrictions had become disproportionate given the number of years that had passed since Charkaoui first faced terrorist allegations.
A spokeswoman for a coalition that supports Charkaoui says he now will be able to go out unsupervised.
He will also be allowed access to the Internet on his home computer, although he will be closely monitored.
Charkaoui, a landed immigrant from Morocco who was arrested in Montreal in 2003 under security-certificate legislation, will still have to wear a tracking bracelet.
Charkaoui has steadfastly denied allegations he is an al Qaeda sleeper agent.
