ROME - Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi says he will complete mandate, ending in 2013, rebuffing calls by opposition parties for his resignation.

Berlusconi had come under criticism for lacking credibility in financial markets after the country's bond markets slumped, causing its borrowing rates to touch a record high on Wednesday.

Berlusconi told parliament that Italy "has not done little" in response to the crisis -- but that it needs to do more.

He says Italy needs to promote competitiveness and growth.
