ST. JOHN'S, N.L. - An international team of experts has raised concerns about safety and timelines on the Muskrat Falls megaproject in Labrador.

An assessment by the team says the schedule for the $6.2 billion dollar project probably won't be achieved.

The report obtained by The Canadian Press also warns of risks posed by transient, semi-skilled workers and what it calls an "East Coast safety culture."

The head of Crown energy corporation Nalcor says the company plans to improve on the province's construction safety record.

Ed Martin also says the Muskrat Falls project is slightly behind schedule, but is on track to break ground next spring.

Liberal Leader Yvonne Jones says the report can't be called an external endorsement -- as claimed by the government -- because a senior Nalcor official was on the review team.
